The Texas A&M men’s golf team is 12th in the first Bushnell Golfweek coaches’ poll of the season, released by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Friday.
The Texas A&M women’s golf team will play in five tournaments this spring before beginning the postseason, the Aggies announced Thursday.
Texas A&M’s student-athletes recorded an 82% graduation success rate (GSR) for the 2010-13 freshman classes as calculated by the NCAA, the school announced Tuesday. A&M’s volleyball, women’s golf and men’s swimming and diving teams had 100% GSRs.

The Texas A&M men’s golf team named Mary Michael Witherell its assistant coach Wednesday. Witherell played for the Aggie women’s team, winning the Big 12 Conference Championship in 2012 and helping the Aggies finish 16th at the NCAA tournament that season. She served as the director of operations for both A&M golf teams the last three seasons.
Callaway Jones and Texas Roadhouse were the gross winners in Gary Blair’s 17th Annual Charities Celebrity Golf Classic benefiting the Special Olympics on Friday at The Traditions Club. Texas Roadhouse shot 19-under 53 to win the afternoon flight, while Callaway Jones shot 18-under to top the morning flight. City Bank and H-E-B were the net winners in the 55-team tournament that featured a scramble format with no mulligans.
The Texas A&M men’s golf team earned All-Academic team status from the Golf Coaches Association of America. The team had a 3.63 grade-point average over the spring semester as six players posted perfect 4.0s, including seniors Dan Erickson and Brandon Smith, juniors Walker Lee and Reese Ramsey, and freshmen William Paysse and Matthew Denton.

The fifth-ranked Texas A&M men’s golf team will compete in the Lamkin San Diego Classic, held Monday and Tuesday at San Diego Country Club.
