Jesse Easterwood dies in airplane accident

Lt. Jesse Easterwood, class of 1909, was among the first pilots to receive training as a naval aviator and see combat in Europe.

May 22, 1941: Easterwood Airport was formally dedicated. It is named after Navy aviator Lt. Jesse L. Easterwood, class of 1909. Easterwood flew 16 missions behind enemy lines during World War I. He was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross.
