Today in Aggie History, May 2: Chancellor Sharp announces plans for RELLIS Campus

May 2, 2016: Texas A&M System Chancellor John Sharp announced that the Riverside Campus — to be renamed the RELLIS Campus, an acronym of Texas A&M’s core values of respect, excellence, leadership, loyalty, integrity and selfless service — would become a multi-institutional hub for research and development.

May 2, 1887: Joe Utay, class of 1908, was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Utay was active in the Ross Volunteers and was captain of the football team. He returned to A&M in 1912 to coach the freshman football team and serve as athletic director. Utay was one of the founders of the Southwest Conference.
