Aug. 16, 2008: Texas A&M swimmer Julia Wilkinson helped Canada set a national record of 4:01.35 in the 400-meter medley relay in the 2008 Olympics. Wilkinson graduated from A&M in 2009 with a degree in communications. She was named the Big 12 Women's Swimmer of the Year in 2008.

The Canadian national team that featured Wilkinson placed seventh in the 400-meter medley relay event. She swam the leadoff backstroke leg in 1:01.35. Wilkinson swam six events and 12 races, and helped Canada break five national records.

During the Canadian Olympic Trials in 2008, Wilkinson broke the national record in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:01.41.
