Feb. 7, 2016: Former A&M All-American linebacker Von Miller was named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl 50 after his Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10. Miller forced two fumbles and had 2½ sacks in the game. Fellow Aggie Gary Kubiak coached the Broncos to the Super Bowl win.

Feb. 7, 1877: The U.S. Post Office designated the campus location as College Station, after the train station that stopped at "College." Henry D. Parsons was appointed as postmaster.

Feb. 7, 1969: John "Bucky" Richardson, former Texas A&M quarterback, was born. Richardson played for the Aggies from 1987 to 1991. "It was said that he played quarterback with a linebacker attitude," according to his profile with the Texas A&M Letterman's Association. The Aggies won the Southwest Conference title in 1987 and 1991. Richardson came in 10th in Heisman Trophy balloting his senior year, and was a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award. He was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the eighth round of the NFL Draft.
