Pending approval, M. Katherine Banks will be the second woman to serve as president in A&M’s history. Banks is also the first woman to serve as dean of engineering. 

Sole finalist: The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents named M. Katherine Banks the sole finalist for president of A&M’s flagship campus. Banks currently is dean of the College of Engineering at A&M. She also is vice chancellor of engineering and national laboratories for the A&M System.

Men's basketball team loses: The Texas A&M men's basketball team returned to action Wednesday night and lost 63-57 to Mississippi State at Reed Arena. 

Baseball team wins: The Texas A&M baseball team earned a 6-4 victory over Incarnate Word on Wednesday night at Blue Bell Park. 

Softball team wins: The Texas A&M softball team blasted five home runs to beat Sam Houston State 11-5 on Wednesday at the Bearkat Softball Complex.

Golf title: Texas A&M’s Sam Bennett shot a final-round 67 to win the individual title at the Cabo Collegiate with a 5-under 211 total Wednesday at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course. As a team, the Aggies finished third.

Women's team takes 18th: The Texas A&M women’s golf team shot a final-round 307 to finish at 52-over 916 for 18th place at the Gamecock Intercollegiate on Wednesday at Columbia Country Club.

Basketball honors: Texas A&M women’s basketball head coach Gary Blair is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2021 Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Wednesday.

Track qualifiers: The Texas A&M track and field teams qualified 16 entries for the upcoming NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships set for March 11-13 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
