Leal's outlook: Texas A&M defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal’s breakthrough season wasn’t enough to earn him All-Southeastern Conference honors, which he said didn’t bother him. “I’ve always been kind of [that] counted-out person,” Leal said Tuesday. “I always had some kind of question mark on myself, so I really don’t pay attention to all that. I really don’t. I just keep doing me, and I know what I can do."

Baseball team loses: The Texas A&M baseball team lost to Sam Houston State 8-6 on Tuesday at Don Sanders Stadium.

Softball team loses: The 25th-ranked Texas State softball team beat Texas A&M 7-6 on Tuesday in nonconference play at Bobcat Stadium.

Track honors: Texas A&M’s Tyra Gittens, Athing Mu and Charokee Young earned weekly Southeastern Conference track and field awards Tuesday.

Tennis honors: The 17th-ranked Texas A&M women’s tennis team was named the ITA UTR team of the month Tuesday.
